- In 2021, FDA sponsored a Low- or No-Cost Food Traceability Challenge. Twelve winners were selected who were deemed to have developed creative financial models that enable “human and animal food operations of all sizes to participate in a scalable, cost-effective way.” (FDA)
- Birds are drawn to the scent of their own waste. Thoroughly cleaning and deodorizing surfaces eliminates this scent trail and discourages pest birds from following the scent back to their old roosts. (NACHI)
- A lack of pest control, with the facility not excluding pests from the food plant to protect against contamination of food was the second most commonly cited non-compliance observation in FDA inspections in 2021. (FDA)
