ST. PAUL, Minn. – May 11, 2021 – Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild, has joined the Ecolab Science Certified™ program to meet consumer expectations for a higher level of cleanliness as it gears up to host the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Xcel Energy Center becomes the first sports and entertainment venue in the country to earn the Ecolab Science Certified seal.
“The health and safety of our fans and employees is our top priority,” said Xcel Energy Center Vice President and General Manager Jack Larson. “That’s why we pursued the Ecolab Science Certified program. We are committed to advancing cleaner, safer, science-based practices in the arena.”
This comprehensive, science-based program is built on Ecolab’s long-standing experience in keeping healthcare facilities clean, bringing the same expertise used in hospitals to the places people eat, stay, shop, work and play. The program combines this healthcare expertise with hospital disinfectants and food-contact sanitizers approved for use during the COVID-19 pandemic with public health and food safety protocols and training, and periodic auditing. Consumers can visit Xcel Energy Center with confidence, knowing what’s behind the Ecolab Science Certified seal.
“Whether it’s a hockey game, a concert or an event, a venue’s commitment to cleaner, safer practices encourages us to get back to what we enjoy most,” said Christophe Beck, Ecolab president and CEO. “We’re proud to partner with Xcel Energy Center and the Minnesota Wild, our St. Paul neighbors, as they lead the way through our public health and food safety program backed by Ecolab science.”
Xcel Energy Center joins many leading restaurants, hotels, retailers and other businesses, including those listed here, in the Ecolab Science Certified program, developed by Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, food safety and infection prevention solutions and services.
“We are proud to be the first NHL team with an arena that has earned the Ecolab Science Certified seal,” said Minnesota Wild President Matt Majka. “Ecolab’s expertise and science-based program show our fans the extra efforts we are taking to help welcome them back with confidence as we head into the playoffs.”
The Ecolab Science Certified program helps facilities:
- Create clean through hospital disinfectants and food-contact sanitizers approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use against the COVID-19 virus and other emerging pathogens, and elevated hygiene standards and protocols informed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
- Check clean through detailed public health and food safety training and periodic auditing by highly trained Ecolab specialists to determine whether program elements are being followed.
- Help consumers see and believe clean through cleaning and disinfecting procedures and the Ecolab Science Certified seal, a visible sign of commitment that a location is advancing cleaner, safer practices.
