Poultry Disease Control and Prevention
Biosecurity is the foundation for preventing and controlling high-risk diseases in poultry. Avian influenza, Salmonella, Campylobacter and Coccidiosis are of particular concern for poultry farmers and require high-quality, science-based chemistry and protocols.
Poultry diseases can originate from bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi or parasites. Regardless of origin, poultry disease prevention through vaccination or other applications will be more successful and will result in a minimal need for curative treatments.
A good biosecurity and disease-prevention program will help you minimize animal mortality and promote animal safety, welfare and health.
Avian Influenza
Avian influenza is a highly contagious and viral disease affecting food-producing birds including chickens, turkeys, quails and guinea fowl. It's variable virus that constantly has new mutations and is primarily acquired through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments and equipment.
Symptoms: Mortality, diarrhea edema and cyanosis of the wattle’s combs and legs, nasal discharge, coughing and sneezing
Salmonella and Campylobacter
Salmonella and Campylobacter are intestinal bacteria that cause food poisoning in humans. The bacteria live and survive in trash, air, water, feed, transport crates and other areas of a poultry farm.
Symptoms: Mortality, diarrhea or no symptoms
Coccidiosis
Coccidiosis is the protozoan parasite Eimeria spp. Developmental stages of life occur both inside and outside the host animal and the external environment. The most resistant form of the parasite is sporulated oocysts.
Symptoms: Diarrhea, weight loss, dehydration, depression and mortality
Marek's Disease, Gumboro Disease and Broiler Poultry Diseases
